Watch Money Being Spent Live!

by Jack Humphrey on Aug 14

This is about the coolest thing I have seen in awhile. I was checking out the Jason Calacanis blog and clicked on his link to ThisNext, where he is on the board.

ThisNext is a social shopping site. “Yawn! A shopping site?”

That’s what I thought too until I saw this live map of people finding and buying anything you can imagine in real time.

Talk about market research. And it’s free! It can become addictive to watch what people are shopping for live. For marketers it’s about as mind blowing as Google Earth, but now with a purpose that we can use to improve our understanding of what people buy online, where they are from, and the sites they like to visit.

Check out ThisNext’s Activity Map.

This has to be one of the sweetest finds I’ve seen in the past few months. Known how ones own site drilldown works is great. But, knowing people are shopping for gadget this, or iPod that, can only help in product selection, site construction, etc. Thanks for sharing this one!
