The Ninja Thinks Online Video is Kind of a Big Deal
May 27, 2008
Maybe some of you readers don’t believe me when I say video is kind of a big deal. That’s cool. But I dare you to tell a Ninja that video isn’t important!
Logo Size and White Space Affect ROI
November 23, 2007
Is Your Logo Too Small? Try a new logo cream designed to make your logo as large as your ego! Apply directly to your computer screen!
A very important factor in the pages you are sending all this traffic to is how big to make your logo. Additionally, how much white space is on your pages.
Some people will cram their logo into impossible-to-notice spots on their pages and completely lose their branding opportunity. Others have way too much white space and lose ROI.
It’s unbelievable how many people know about traditional conversion tools, yet have no clue what “website stardust” can do for CTR!

Time for something different…
Putting audio on your site improves monetization…
September 13, 2006
Think about it:
You have this audio feed on your site and ads and links all around it. Nothing a person can do but sit an listen to the [tag]audio[/tag].
Nothing, other than look around your page while they are listening!
The difference between audio and video in this case?
- [tag]Video[/tag] engages the reader’s EYES as well as her ears.
- Audio, on the other hand, simply engages the ears; leaves the eyes looking for something THEY can do.
So try this:
Put a training mp3 or maybe something funny (certainly something engaging and of intense interest to your visitors) on a page of your site and surround it with relevant equally engaging links and ads.
Watch what happens. Your visitor stay will increase as they sit and listen to more audio on your site and they have nothing to do but look at all the “shiny things” you have to offer them while they listen.
Anyone in their right mind would leap at the chance to put their best offers in front of a captive audience to ponder for as long as possible.
With the right message, a highly engaging audio, and the right offers all around the audio buttons, you will begin to see drastic improvement over your regular click throughs on the rest of your site.
It works because it is simple!

August 15, 2006
High-tech [tag]blogging[/tag] is the backbone of publishing on the web today. Most people have no clue anymore when they are on a blog-based platform disguised very well as a high-end commerce site.
What happened to the high-end commerce site? It couldn’t compete with RSS enabled blogs for traffic. Old sites are being totally revamped to take advantage of what bloggers have known for years, or they are at least being augmented by RSS technology on some sort of tweaked out blog platform.
Many people think of blogs as opinion posts and diaries. Most blogs still are. But there is new technology available that turns blogs into the best platform to run a business online of any platform out there.
In fact, a killer blog platform won’t even look like a blog to the layperson.
[tag]Sherman Hu[/tag] goes into what blogs are and how they work on a basic level. It behooves you to learn the basics and follow the leaders in the advanced stuff if you want to create authority sites.
What is RSS?
August 15, 2006
A free [tag]RSS tutorial[/tag] by Sherman Hu.
If you are not up on RSS, you aren’t paying attention! Content is syndicated and shared all over the web with RSS and it is fast becoming the backbone of the web. As important as html? Soon, very soon.
Let Sherman tell you all about RSS…
Matt Cutts To The Chase
August 15, 2006
Matt Cutts puts to bed the search engine myths of hosting sites one the same server, related IP addresses, and launching sites with lots of pages.
After Matt gets through telling you what’s up, you can go back to that loser in whatever public forum you visit who told you otherwise.
THEN - stop going to those forums and START hanging out here! You’ll save lots of time and heartache.
Video Syndication
June 11, 2006
Google got into the game of video syndication first.
Now Yahoo has launched and upgraded their video syndication service.
When these guys go to war, it benefits all of us!
Why you should create and syndicate video:
- It is a marketing method seen as very difficult and advanced by your competition
- Most people won’t take the time, preferring to continue marketing via proven methods like RSS and article syndication, no matter how tough the competition is for their niche.
- The harder something seems, the fewer people who take advantage of it. i.e. LESS COMPETITION!
- Video is instantly respected (done properly) far above written and audio content. (Again because only a handful use it as a lead generator.)
How to learn about creating and syndicating high quality video with cheap tools…
One place is Content Propulsion Lab. Here you can find screen capture software and other tools to create how-to videos that you can upload to Google, Yahoo, and other services like YouTube.com.

We told you so - Video killed the text ad star!
May 27, 2006
Vindication!
My partners and I did some seminars last year talking about internet marketing predictions for 2006.
One popular prediction was about the direction video was taking in internet marketing campaigns and how things were changing fast.
Now Google is adding video to Adwords so that advertisers can put their branding on the same level as TV ads, sort of.
One blogger asks the appropriate sort of question: (paraphrased)
Is this going to upset the level playing field we little guys have enjoyed alongside the big corporations with simple text link ads?
It stands to reason that companies will start throwing serious coin at high-level productions to show on the Adwords network.
Our answer is: Technology to produce high-end videos to compete with corporate America is cheap, and we know how to use it.
That’s why we created Content Propulsion Lab. So that the little guy could be ready for this obvious next stage in internet marketing.
The writing IS on the wall: All those predictions you ignored last year, deciding not to perfect your chops in utilizing video for marketing, podcasting, and killing some of the text on your site…them chickens have come home to roost!
