Monday Power Linking: Boost Productivity, Get Traffic, Copy Successful Blogging Strategies

May 14, 2007

Other than the first link, the following links are designed to help you crank your blog to new levels of success.

I didn’t notice the theme until I was done posting the links below, so now I will take credit for it as though I set out to help you boost your productivity, blog better, and design better content all along.

blog.jpg

  • 15 Minute Website SEO Checkup - A pretty useful check list of keyword usage based on positive or negative points depending on effectiveness.
  • PerfectBlogger.com has a great article entitled “Top 5 Rules for Making Your Blog A Success.” I think everyone keeps pushing these points because they are the core functions of authority and obvious expertise in blogs and because most people are still trying to skip some or all of them looking for an easier way. Until marketers adopt these principles, look for more and more reminders, like this one, of what it takes to become relevant in your niche with a blog platform.
  • Darren Rowse at ProBlogger.net has a great post entitled “9 Attitudes of Highly Creative People.” Creativity is not just for people who consider themselves writers only. Creativity is a key ingredient to business success whether it is content development strategy or implementing new ideas and tactics in your marketing. Everyone needs creativity.
  • Liz Strauss has an excellent post called “25 Ways to be Jazzed about Productivity.” Everyone involved in building an authority presence on the web knows that productivity is crucial and organization is the key to success. The hard part is keeping your productivity up and staying organized and efficient ongoing. This guide will help you set yourself back on track and boost your productivity to new heights.
  • John Chow has an insightful post about “The Seven Habits of Highly Successful Bloggers.” Not only am I carrying a theme for topics today, but I have managed to find posts with similar headline structures. You’d think I was doing this on purpose, but it’s totally random, really!
  • Mark White at Better Business Blog gave me the ammunition to point to a great list today with “52 of the Best Ways to Promote Your Blog and Your Business.”

I dare say if you read and implement what you learn just from today’s Power Linking, you are going to drastically improve your authority presence on the web!

Targeted Traffic From Social Networks…

January 19, 2007

I’ve been completely floored this week by the way MyBlogLog.com has taken off.

Sometimes it seems like a big company has to buy in to really get the current community to explode! And it has.

My MBL network has grown a lot this week and everyone seems to be posting comments on each others community pages like mad now.

My traffic from the MyBlogLog.com community has tripled this week just from participating and surfing over there.

If you are a blogger and you aren’t in the MyBlogLog world yet, you best get stompin’! And don’t forget to join the Blog Promotion group as your first order of business.

Spicy Page is also really taking off. It is really fun to watch new communities grow. And I like helping them do it.

It is a blog voting and popularity community. People who sign up seem to be surfing through the other members and commenting on other blogs, usingthe system to discover new content in the blogosphere.

I like the neat twist they put on the community system and I can’t wait to see what they do with the video hosting tab which is still under construction.

My traffic from SpicyPage.com is going up and I am getting new readers and subscribers from them.

I will have a list of all the new social networks I’ve discovered soon. Things are definitely going vertical instead of just large, general communities.

For instance, I found a new story posting place like Digg, but just for marketers and marketing content. It’s called PlugIm.

This site is sending me daily just by posting my posts and articles there for readers to pick up.

Make sure you take some time soon to “get social.” My stats are up across the board from taking a bit of time each day to interact with neat services like these, so it is time well spent.

Jo Han Mok and Ewen Chia Unleash Their Traffic Secrets

December 30, 2006

If you find yourself looking around for the “holy grail” of driving targeted traffic all the time, it is because marketers and scammers come up with elaborate, unreal schemes to trick search engines and visitors while making up crazy stories that somehow fool you into thinking they know what they are talking about.

We must be approaching several hundred million dollars spent by online business owners on junk traffic schemes in their quest for that holy grail. That “big red button.”

Blog Marketing Book: Jeremy Wright

December 17, 2006

A great read on blog marketing is available through Amazon. The book, by Jeremy Wright, is getting great reviews.

Here is an excerpt from Bloomberg’s review:

“You must have blogrolls, or lists of links, because you aren’t really a cool blogger, Wright tells us, unless you link to other blogs in your subject area. NewsGator, a plug-in for Microsoft Outlook, makes new feeds arrive the way e-mail does. PubSub offers a tracking system for feeds.

Wright makes all of these programs fairly clear, though the book would have benefited from some hints about which software packages are essential.”

Here is the beginning of the third chapter. Actually Jeremy has a lot of previews on his blog. You should check it out!
