Site Marketer Review

July 1, 2008

There’s a new social news site just for internet marketing news. It’s called SiteMarketer (click the widget below to go to site) and is the creation of John Reel from GoTryThis fame.

What I like is that you can post all kinds of things to the site and not be banned. Like “Launches.” This is especially helpful for getting the word out about Web2Submitter 2.0 and Video Utility Poster which are both coming out this week.

Seems that people are being fairly responsible in their posting. I see some spam, but not what I would have imagined. With the community able to vote spam down instantly, this should be a great internet marketing social news site for both product owners and bloggers and people who want to keep up with the latest products and marketing tactics coming out.

Digg Doesn’t Have THIS…

You can ask questions and post them just like a regular Digg-style post. People can answer and help each other out. This is a fantastic upgrade to the usual social news site. I expect this will take off big once SiteMarketer gets a healthy membership rolling.

Earn Points

You can earn points which gets you different rewards like being featured on the sidebar for most submissions and most traffic sent to the site. This ensures healthy submissions of new content, questions, and resources as people work on building their social authority on the site.

Cool Widget!

    Jack,
Cool - will check it out. BTW, just ran across a new site ‘Anyvite’ - supposed to do everything that ‘Envite’ couldn’t.

    Hi Jack,

I have used Digg plus tens of other social bookmarking sites, but this SiteMeter seems to be something new.

I try it and will tell my experiences later on.

    Thanks for sharing!

Let’s see how this new site goes Jack. Been learning a heap from you mate and my lil niche ‘Real Estate Training Brisbane’ is now somewhat mine. So my thanks, and I’ve posted an article to the site here, so let’s see.

What I noticed is that marketers might visit a site, but they don’t vote. I submitted one story, actually my SEO linking Gotchas from last year, and it didn’t gain any more votes, though 40+ visits.

I am not sure the majority of internet marketers actually “get” social media, and whilst it is a new site, I have a feeling it isn’t going to grow a community.

Selfish marketers are all poor. People who don’t understand what social marketing means and just plunk up their crap on these sites without visiting and voting/commenting on other stuff are SO MISSING THE POINT!

They are the same people who go into forums and rant about social marketing not working. They don’t get involved in these sites, they fail, and then blame the medium.

They are losers. Idiots. Wannabees. Spammers. Viruses. Scum. And Poor.

But that shouldn’t stop the people who “get it” from participating and making the most of sites like this one which really has a lot of potential despite the over saturation of social news sites and the scum merchant spammers.

If you give up, the link spam terrorists win! :)

Very well said Jack, I just downloaded your free ebook yesterday and I’m trying to follow along. Actually I’m very new to this whole aspect of social networking, I have been triying to use organic search engine but I can tell you its not easy.

I know and have heard that social networking can be a very useful source for attracting traffic if done correctly and persistently.

But as you said most of us are lazy and when we fail you know what we like to do, give all kind of excuses. Hey, I know the pro know better, as for me I’m trying to learn as much as I can and at the same put it into practice.

Thank you for your great ebook, I hope it will take me to the top 100,000 spot

Phey! It is not easy, is it?
