New Wordpress Plugin: Toggle Visual Editor

We just got done like 2 minutes ago with a new plugin that you are going to want to download and use if you have to toggle between the WYSIWYG editor and the basic editor in Wordpress a lot.
Who’s it for?
People who use any version of Wordpress that makes you go to Users window to toggle between the two different editors.
What’s it for?
Video bloggers or anyone who runs an occasional or frequent video with embed code from YouTube or any of the other popular video sites.
People who have to turn off the WYSIWYG advanced editor in order to prevent it from breaking the embed code when you hit “Publish”.
With the latest versions of Wordpress you now have to go in and do one more click every time you want to turn the visual editor off. So this plugin becomes even more necessary.
What does it do?
Puts a checkbox right in your post area at the top so you can easily, with one click, switch editors depending on what kind of post you want to make.
For video post: Uncheck the box.
For regular post: Check the box
It automatically switches saving you time going over to Users and clicking around just to turn off the visual editor.
Its been bugging the heck out of me for awhile now. Now you can do something about it!
Installation
- Download the Toggle Visual Editor Wordpress plugin
- Unzip it.
- Upload it to your plugins folder.
- Go to your plugins admin in Wordpress and turn it on.
- Go to “Write” and see that you have a new check box at the top to toggle between the editors.
It works with both posts and pages.

One of the first things I’ve always done when working on a new WP installation is to switch off the visual editor - it just gets in the way. Maybe I’ll have a look at turning it back on again with this plugin. Thanks, Jack!

I’ve downloaded it but haven’t tried it yet . . . I’m only hoping it addresses the problem of losing your coding (when using the “code” editor) once you hit publish.
In other words, if you’ve entered text and coding in the code editor, hit publish, and want to make further changes later on, you need to re-enter all of the coding part (e.g., , ) because it disappears, and with it, all your formatting!

Great find… a problem I’ve been having is on some older posts where I did not use the visual editor - if I would try to edit out a mistake, the formatting would be lost.
Now I can toggle back and forth on the post and make corrections without going to the User page to toggle it there.

We were running into exactly the same problems and decided to code our way out.
If you’re running PHP5, I would suggest giving our Foliopress WYSIWYG a try. It’s specifically designed with making tricky html code easily editable in both source and WYSIWYG.
Great ability to post images with proper SEO as well with the built-in SEO Images component.
This plugin seems to work great. I’ve been looking around for something like this for a while now. Thanks a lot. =D

Does that mean just the php file or the folder+file?
I got an error message when I tried just the file
