Cool Market Research Tool: Filtrbox

by Jack Humphrey

What is Filtrbox.com?

“The Time Saving Cure for Information Overload - Filtrbox is the media monitoring service of choice for savvy professionals. Filtrbox eliminates the need for multiple monitoring tools saving both time and money while increasing productivity and knowledge.”

filtrbox reviewAuthority site publishers thrive on information. We need to be on top of developments in our niches, not discovering events after the fact. As your responsibilities increase so does your urgent need to know. Managing massive amounts of information has become an incredibly necessary, but time consuming regimen.

How Filtrbox Helps You Become an Information Overlord

We discovered a neat new site that gets the job done in an efficient, reliable manner. I have to admit, I was a bit hesitant to try Filtrbox, but I am now thoroughly convinced and, better yet, relieved. Frankly, it’s better at the job than I was. Now, I can concentrate on other marketing and research without being as burdened as before.

For us, Filtrbox puts needed information on the table right in front of our team. Our departments are on the same page and our management team is more informed and becoming more and more synchronized.

We especially like the fact that we are in the loop even when we’re enjoying some down time. Filtrbox keeps right on retrieving, feeding and filtering information pertinent to our market from all over the web.

We used to be overloaded with information, much of which was repetitive and outdated. We started with the free Filtrbox program. We quickly called to gain some assistance setting our filters. Customer service was supportive and patient, making sure we were off on the right foot.

Once our filters were set, we immediately began to get relevant and pertinent information. We didn’t have to do a thing! In fact, the Filtrbox System teaches us. Gradually, we have refined our filters. We open new fields, expand certain criteria, block others and close outdated filters. Meanwhile, we are not bothered with unnecessary materials, or solicitations.

But the Filtrbox system does not stop there. We can define the media types and even sources including web logs that we want to keep in our loop. We need to know competitor activity, market trends and investment news as it happens. Our management team is now on the same page.

We check our Filtrbox lists regularly and tag specific articles for internal and external use. Appropriate postings are forwarded to clients, while others are reviewed internally and help set our strategy. Our clients like how quickly we get information to them.

Great Reports and Interface

Filtrbox’s screened information arrives in an easy-to-read, easy-to-organize list distinguished by 8 different standards. We can flag information for further review, store for later or delete. The size of our information portfolio does not matter. We can sort by date, category, media or keyword within seconds.

On the Filtrbox dashboard, there are two sliders. These sliders are entitled “Show Rank” and “Show Days.” The rankings are based upon our entered criteria. Articles ranked 10 fully comply with all our standards. Articles ranked 1 are at the low compliance end of our scale. We can decide what level we want to review by setting the slider. It sounds funny but in the beginning, I actually checked some of those low ranked articles. Filtrbox was right! I had no interest in that material. As we continue to refine our filtering criteria, we move the slider further along.

We can also set the age of the material we review by moving the “Show Days” slider. I try to check in every day, but if I miss a few days, I just move the slider back to cover that period. It’s almost too easy.

For important articles, there is a mail option that allows me to forward to clients or co-workers by a simple command. On our company blog, we have embedded a Filtrbox widget that posts articles directly to the site.

With Filtrbox we have an increase of pertinent information while reducing our research time, leaving more time to use the information. Filtrbox has brought our team on the same page while increasing proactive interaction with our clients. Basically, Filtrbox had gotten us on top of our game and out from under the distractions of information overload.

Next we’ll look into similar tools like Trackur.

Jack:

Could you take a look at VibeMetrix.com, our new blog monitoring product, and tell us what you think? It has some overlap with Filtrbox, but it is more focused on identifying key infuencers and managing conversations with them. Let me know if you have any questions or comments. Thanks.
