To continue with Link Building on a Budget Part 4, where I talked about doing press releases, I thought it would be nice to start a thorough listing of all the press release resources I have in my bookmarks.
Nice for me too, since all this stuff was spread all over the place on my computer. Now it’s nicely organized!
This is a work in progress and should grow to a very big resource over time.
Press Release Courses
Marc Harty’s authoritative press release course. I saw Mark at the Traffic Tactics Workshop in San Diego and the man knows things… big time things … about press release strategies. His course pays for itself in sheer traffic and authoritative links almost immediately after you do your first release using his tactics.

I just wanted to add PRLeap.com to the list. I have used them for a while and am very pleased with their distribution. I know you are probably looking for large lists of sites, but I just feel like this one can stand alone.

Hey Jack,
thanks for this great list! The only resource I don’t see mentioned is przoom.com.

Hey Jack,
Thanks for the kind words. Those links are excellent, in depth resources. Allow me to add some context:
- Pick a couple providers you have good success with.
I like PR Web and one of the “2nd tier providers” like
PRleap.com, Send2Press.com and a few others
- Test which providers deliver the best LONG TAIL
results. A properly optimized release will generate
traffic for months and years.
- Watch out for trends. These trends are happening now
and they are impacting the PR space:
- Speciality newswires, for example: http://www.billboardpublicitywire.com/
- Targeting: you can geo target as well as target
by other demographic and psychographic criteria
Also, while it was buried on one of the lists, I’ve seen good results from this site: http://www.PR-Inside.com And it’s free!
And while on that subject, it should be noted that many PR resources are NOT free. PRweb used to be, but now the minimum is $80. I like doing a blend of paid and free syndication services for the best results.

Thanks for the suggestions Jack! We just launched a Press Release Builder Tool to help entrepreneurs build press releases and I linked this post as a valuable resource for our readers under the Step 5: More Resources section.
Keep up the great work!
Evan.

Hi Jack
We’re recently launched a Free Press Release service at http://www.PressAbout.com which is in the form of a WordPress blog. Obviously its still in it’s early stages, but growing strong.
Cheers
