Spanking Children

I know you were expecting advice on how to get more traffic to your web business. I want you to feel free to search this site for thousands of ways I’ve already published on becoming a big deal on the web.
But now I must weigh in on another, more serious matter.
My parents believed in spanking as a disciplinary tool. I, of course, disagreed with them at the time. I still do. So it did my heart well to meet another parent recently who told me about another way of dealing constructively with misbehavior that does not involve spanking.
One of the things we discussed was the act of spanking and my new friend explained that no, he does not spank any of his children.
He explained that what he does is to take the misbehaving child out for a ride in the car and talk. He said that usually this works and that the child calms down fairly quickly and really doesn’t take too much time.
By removing the child, in this case his son, from the immediate situation and providing a change of scenery, the child is allowed to focus on something different. Once the child has the opportunity to change perspective, things get better quickly and the child has better understanding of his place within the family and begins to understand the families concept of acceptable behavior.

Hilarious! I really didn’t expect that picture. As parents, sometimes, we need to a good laugh.
Being a parent myself I can tell you that spanking does NOT work. However, a healthy dose of psychological scarring goes a long long way.

we here in Uk cant spank or chastise our children and its bred a lot of kids who think they can get away with anything.
and we also have members of the aristocracy who have been brought up very well acting like complete baffoons

Good gracious! Thank goodness I’m still single. I can’t imagine how hard it is to keep up with kids these days.

When I was a child I didn’t believe in spanking either. Of course I didn’t believe in eating anything but hamburgers and hot dogs for breakfast, lunch and dinner either.
The problem with spanking is that people get mad, angry, and emotional when spanking their children. With that mindset they often cross the line from discipline to abuse. Kids can’t fight back.
With that being said…Anything that can be done without violence is usually a better alternative than a violent solution.

I guess I should note that the tactic depicted is not one I would personally recommend and, if you ARE going to use it, going 99 miles per hour is probably going a bit far.
30 miles per hour will still strike a note for any kid on the hood. Careful going around turns.

Two wrongs don’t make a right. The parent should not break the speed limit. Thanks Jack, is your little man starting test your patience? As a father of 4 and one on the way its not easy keeping up or holding back. But the best lesson is that laughter is the best medicine! I will print that picture and post it on my fridge!

Despite what this post might have implied, my kid is the best behaved thing I could have ever imagined.
We just went for a ride in fact. Him firmly seated in his car seat and both of us hurling over hills on “roller coaster road.” We used to do it at high speeds in high school.
Never once did I imagine I’d be taking my kid over them at 35 mph and having the time of my life, lol.
I don’t think I’ll ever need to take him out there on the hood. All I’ll have to say is roller coaster road on the hood and he’ll shape up in a second.
Jack, this piece is too funny. The picture was definitely not what I was expecting to see. The whole issue of parenting needs to have more laughter along with the trials of everyday “being a good parent”.

I love it. When my son was about 10 I had occasion to slap his behind. He immediately told me he wanted to go to the police to report me. I readily agreed telling him I would be explaining to the police why he got the slap. Worked perfectly. He’s now a gentle 25yo.

I respect you Jack and understand where you’re coming from.
i understand your point and that sounds very ideal. I used to think like that but unfortunately every method i tried did not work.
Unfortunately many times things aren’t that simple.
Children disrespecting parents and not knowing limits is common these days.
If we don’t train them now they will only grow to become irresponsible selfish adults. Other than even while children they can do some pretty bad stuff.

I think there is a major difference between being calm and out of love (with your heart breaking )spank a child to correct their mistakes and just getting mad and hitting. There is a huge difference.
One is out of love, one is out of anger.
So we have to make that distinction.

Jack, that’s HORRIBLE! If you’re going to drive around with your child on the hood, he needs to be properly secured in an approved child safety seat!

i would be very pissed with my parents if they didn’t spank me when I was a kid. I would say when I was “little”, but that would be a lie since everyone knows I was never little. using the excuse that some people spank out of anger or abuse this excellent form of discipline is very lame btw. but I’ll definitely consider adding this form of discipline if it keeps my future kids from running out into a busy intersection
