The Best Marketing Blogs Right Now

October 9, 2007

I have a list. A list of internet marketing and SEO/SEM blogs I read more than any others. Not the blogs that are merely there to support or promote products.

The insightful, deliberately in-depth and well written blogs by people who care, maybe a bit too much, about what their readers think of their material.

The blogs below are written by people who obviously care about the quality of tips and insights they put out in the ’sphere.

They are in no particular order because I refuse to sit and think about which ones I like more than others. They all have something valuable to offer people who want to build a solid online presence and get a lot of traffic.

7 Marketing Blogs - Thousands of dollars worth of daily advice…

  • ProBlogger: Darren Rowse is a giant in the blog promotion and monetization world. His readership is almost double Matt Cutt’s (”the voice of google”) at well over 30,000 RSS subscribers and they are as loyal as can be. One secret to his success is running group writing contests which attract a huge amount of attention.
  • CopyBlogger: Brian Clark’s blog has truly exploded in the last year. His readership is just over 25,000 RSS subscribers and it is entirely because he puts so much into his writing. I think the most popular comment on CopyBlogger centers on appreciation of the value he puts into each and every post he makes. When I grow up I want to be just like him.
  • Shoemoney: Jeremy Schoemaker shows people how to make money with their blogs. Over 11,000 RSS subscribers hang on his word and follow his lead, which is impressive. He’s very good at showing examples of what makes him money with good screenshots that never fail to inspire even the more-than-slightly burnt out blogger.
  • StuntDubl: Todd Malicoat has been doing his thing for awhile now and is one of the most read internet marketing, seo, and promotion tips bloggers online. Here’s some of his best stuff.
  • Seth’s Blog: Seth Godin isn’t known especially for his internet marketing advice as much as his unique “purple” marketing insights. He is a best selling author of many titles. One of my favorites is “Small is the New Big” a compendium of his best blog posts on being, well, remarkable among other things. Bloggers can learn a lot about building better blogs from Seth.
  • Search Engine Land: Danny Sullivan is a staple in any serious search engine marketer’s daily diet. Not following him, another giant in the biz, is simply silly. Pretty much anything good you’ve read about search engine marketing on other sites was informed in some way by Mr. Sullivan and company.
  • SEOBook: Aron Wall is yet another big player and giver of crucial tips in the SEO world. I have used tips from SEOBook that have netted me some serious link love and traffic. I can’t go very long without checking on his latest stuff.
  • Andy Beard:  Andy is a heavy duty content-producing machine.  He really takes the time to put together deep posts on SEO and other marketing topics that most people, including me, just don’t.  While I lean toward “get the information out there fast,” Andy gets the information out there fast and in raw detail.  He’s an honest reviewer of marketing products and he will tell you the bad with the good to give you the clearest picture before you make a buying decision on internet marketing related products.

I read a lot of other blogs. Right now, these guys get my vote simply because I notice myself reading them more than any others. There is a distinct flavor of professionalism in these blogs that you will not find in most other blogs on the web.

You’d do well to subscribe to every one of them if you really want to be a dominant force in your own ’sphere.

Who are your favorites?
