We all seem to hate “yappy” email list owners. People who can’t shut up for even a day. They have a lot in common with this dog…

Spanking Children

July 12, 2008

I know you were expecting advice on how to get more traffic to your web business. I want you to feel free to search this site for thousands of ways I’ve already published on becoming a big deal on the web.

But now I must weigh in on another, more serious matter.

My parents believed in spanking as a disciplinary tool. I, of course, disagreed with them at the time. I still do. So it did my heart well to meet another parent recently who told me about another way of dealing constructively with misbehavior that does not involve spanking.

One of the things we discussed was the act of spanking and my new friend explained that no, he does not spank any of his children.

He explained that what he does is to take the misbehaving child out for a ride in the car and talk. He said that usually this works and that the child calms down fairly quickly and really doesn’t take too much time.

By removing the child, in this case his son, from the immediate situation and providing a change of scenery, the child is allowed to focus on something different. Once the child has the opportunity to change perspective, things get better quickly and the child has better understanding of his place within the family and begins to understand the families concept of acceptable behavior.

He kindly shared a picture of the process which I share with you now.

Do you ever feel like this dog?

July 10, 2008

This reminds me of when people sabotage their own success. Actually I just needed an excuse to post this hi-freakin-larious video here and stay relevant. :)

Dean Needs Help With His Killer Bunnies!

June 23, 2008

bunny.jpgMy buddy Dean Hunt is looking for the ultimate in “killer bunny” designs.  And he needs our help!

He has some designs up here and a voting system for you to give feedback.  Winner of the best feedback on this post will get his killer book on social marketing and buzz (he’s been on the Digg front page more than twice I believe.)

Help Dean choose the killer-est bunny and get a chance at his $97 ebook.  Either way, you need some entertainment sometimes!

Vegas…again

June 20, 2008

mirage.gifHey all. Just dropping by to report my where abouts so no one freaks out and I don’t go too long without posting.

It is also required by my probation officer, and the CIA likes to keep track of me as well.

love.jpgWish I had some pictures. Staying at the Mirage, home of “Love” - the Cirque du Soleil Beatles show. I’ve certainly seen some weird things here. Beautiful people are everywhere. And they’re all wearing retro 70’s clothes as if someone circulated a memo (that I didn’t get, damned spam filters!) that there was a dress code to match the Beatles theme which completely permeates this massive hotel.

Brandon is downstairs either losing his ass or up again. By now I think he’s had enough complimentary beer to pickle a mastadon. Hey, he deserves it for all the programming he’s done lately.

Talked to Mike Filsaime, Carl Galletti, Dr. Mike and Frank Sousa today. As if there weren’t enough things to compete with in Vegas already, the Mirage now has an adult section of pool called “Bare.” Carl is some kind of miracle worker for having any men in his conference at all.

We’ll be getting back on Monday, my birthday, and getting back to work. Have to get Video Utility Poster released and prepare for the onslaught of orders. The excitement over this one is surprising considering I only made a post about it. Now that I am about to be an “elder” people seem to be listening to me a little more. :) (I’ll be 40 in case you were wondering)

Thinking about some more social marketing and organization software apps now. Some neat things in the pipeline I think the blog heads are going to like a lot.

Soon as Brandon gets back from Betty Ford Center I’ll have him working on finishing those up. He does his best work after rehab.

He’s Half Cajun For Sure!

May 27, 2008

We recently took a week off and went to Louisiana Cajun country (Lafayette, LA) with our 2 year old Sammy.  That’s where my wife grew up.  She’s a full-blooded Cajun through and through.

dscf7111.JPGI had no idea how Sammy would react to a crawfish boil.  2 year olds are normally pretty picky about “weird food,” and watching your food get boiled alive adds even more to the suspense.

I’m proud to say the boy took to it like a true 1/2 Cajun.  He grabbed the first tail his mom peeled for him and dunked it in ketchup and ate it, immediately asking for more.

Another reason to work at home:  You can end up with a terribly smart and well-rounded kid when you don’t have to send them to daycare!  To the point where they’ll even eat big, red, bug-looking things just because you do.  :)

Jack Humphrey, Howie Schwartz, and Dr. Mike

May 5, 2008

…as you’ve never seen us before.

This video was shot by missylol from Social Marketing Central without our permission. Now that it’s all over the web I am going to act like it was a sanctioned shoot. Normally what me, Howie, and Dr. Mike do on weekends is kept private and away from the paparazzi.

Would Someone Please Explain This To Me?

April 8, 2008

These things really bug me because I cannot figure out how they work (why they are so accurate!)

Please play this short game and come back here and tell me and the rest of the FTR crowd how this thing works.  Maybe I’m missing something, but this thing freaks me out!

Friday Night Fun…

February 15, 2008

You have to take a break sometimes.

I can’t think of a better break than playing with a beatbox dog.

Thanks to Mark at VTribes.com for the laugh.
