My Mega List Launching Tomorrow

October 30, 2006

A list builder with a twist is coming online tomorrow.  If you are looking to build a list of opt in subscribers really fast, this will be the tool to do it.

And the price is right - it’s free.

Mike Glaspie is rolling out “My Mega List” tomorrow, October 31st, but is taking pre-launch signups now.  (Grab a great spot here before people start joining en masse.)

How it works:

This is a list builder that multiplies itself out to 5 levels with unimited width (meaning the more people you refer, the more “width” you build out while being able to go 5 levels deep.)

Who is it for?

Anyone with a wide-appeal product, service, or content site or online business-related products/services.

The list will be more general than your in house list, but here is how I use things like My Mega List to build my in-house list:

1.  I do a mailing farily regularly, as the list will begin to grow itself and new people will need to hear from me for the first time.

2.  The ONLY thing I do is make an offer to get on my in-house list for The Friday Traffic Report.

3.  I do not try to sell to these lists as so many others do.  Big mistake.  Use My Mega List to pull out your perfect market from the general list it builds.  THEN you know how to target your mails as you will only be mailing offers to your in-house list.

4.  As the first people on your “Mega List” hear about your site and list offer, you will need to be careful not to send the same thing over and over to get people on your in-house list.  Begin to send other content to that list and have a small ad at top and bottom to get people to your in-house signup page.

That’s how the pros add significant subscribers to their main lists with this type of program.

How much is My Mega List worth to you?  Say you make an average of $25 per 100 visitors to your site.  You can easily be sending 100 new visitors to your site each week with My Mega List after it takes off.

On this modest decision to get your own account at My Mega List, you are making $100 extra per month for free.

Plus adding new subscribers to your main list regularly, as long as you send out to your Mega List regularly.

Multivariate Testing for Free

October 27, 2006

has a beta service out called Web Optimizer. It looks at your site and tells you what’s working and what’s not for monetization and other things.

From Google:

“Use Website Optimizer to test different website content. Graphical reports show which content engages your audience and results in the highest conversions. Run that content to improve your users’ experience and convert visitors to customers. Complete the steps below and sign-up to participate in our beta test.”

The program is in beta so you’ll have to take it as-is. But every beta I have used on Google has been pretty tight right out of the gate.

Give it a try!

Social Bookmarking Automation Software Review

October 27, 2006

Auto Social Poster Plugin for Wordpress

Sean Wu does it again! Watch for his latest software to take off like a rocket - it’s a winner.

If you are bookmarking your posts by hand or having someone do it for you, you already know the pain and suffering that goes with it.

Now, [tag]social bookmarking[/tag] is different than tagging and pinging. If you already have your blog set up (and I hope you do!) to tag and ping, you are still missing a lot of links and traffic by not using the social bookmarking places to show that part of the world that you have new content up to take a look at.

The old way was to post and then go to your accounts and post the new link to your new post by hand, individually.

The new way is to use Sean’s killer blog plugin to do it for you as you post. Yep! Just as you ping the major ping sites when you hit “Publish” you will now be alerting your individual bookmaking services automatically as well.

Sean’s plugin hits the top 10 social bookmarking services right when you post - don’t even have to add water!

Grab this tool and save your sanity and time for other marketing efforts!

Creative Viral Marketing

October 27, 2006

pumpkin.JPGTim Love, an FTR subscriber, is using a unique, fun tool to drive traffic.

I have said in the past that creating [tag]link bait[/tag] is a great way to generate easy, non reciprocal links and traffic. Well, this post is a prime example of the result of link baiting. Tim did something cool, and I am linking to it.
Will the traffic I send Tim through this example be targeted? Not if everyone who visits my site is married. What are the chances of that?

The game is custom built. Does that intimidate you or make you think it’s something you couldn’t do for your site because it is “technical?”

It shouldn’t. It should come as a wake up call that you can have a tool like this for your site and it shouldn’t be expensive or hard.

All you need is an idea for something that works for your market.

Great job Tim! Hope you report back with the results of this tactic!

Man, How Stupid Were People About Links?

October 25, 2006

Take a step back in time to 2000 with this Wired article about newspapers trying to charge websites for linking to them!

Yes, you read that correctly. Back in the day it seems the e-neanderthals were trying to charge people for sending them readers.

Newspapers have had such a hard time with the internet. I still don’t know how they stay afloat when news is free, better, and easier to access on the web now more than ever.

Poor guys. Charging for the “privilege” of linking to them must have been when they first saw the writing on the wall: papers were going to die someday, better get some cash fast!

I had a guy threaten to sue me once for linking to his lousy site. Well after 2000. It was like running into a caveman at a Mensa meeting!

Hard to believe how far we’ve come. (Most of us anyway)

Once Upon A Link

October 25, 2006

Once upon a time a website owner looked for and secured [tag]links[/tag] from other sites simply to get traffic from that site and send some traffic back for the privilege.

There was no Google, Yahoo, or MSN setting rules about [tag]reciprocal links[/tag] which have now somehow become “the law.”

Links are for traffic… targeted traffic.

Since, to this day, nothing does your site more good than a good, visible, relevant link from a site which caters to your perfect market base, I propose a test you can run in your marketing for a couple of months.

Get links from sites based upon factors that matter most:

1. Good content
2. Strong reader base
3. Willingness to link from a prominent place

Bikini Model Authority Site Review

October 24, 2006

Beth WeberReview of HawaiianTropicBikiniModels.com

Tobey Brown has taken the Content Desk Authority Site System to a new place.

Most people think an [tag]authority site[/tag] needs to be a serious site with serious content. That’s certainly one way to do it.

But Tobey, a recent graduate of our Elite Coaching Program, figured if our publishing system works to bring lots of traffic for other topics, why not bikini models?

The site has only been up for a couple of weeks and is already doing well with traffic. He made his first two affiliate sales today, which is much more than people who build their own sites on old technology can say in their first two weeks!

The content for the site is a mix of text, photos, and videos which plays very well with the young [tag]Web 2.0[/tag] crowd who are not big readers, especially in this niche, if you know what I mean. :^)

htbm.gif

Future plans for the site include bikini model profiles and tips for getting modeling gigs (so he can also attract women to the site for other monetization strategies).

This could well be the first bikini model site based on a platform like ours, but it certainly will be one of the highest traffic sites like it in the world once Tobey gets more links and more content syndicated around the web.

Hopefully it will serve as an example of how to break out of the box of thinking an authority site can only be built for a certain kind of industry.

Tobey knows that’s not true now!

Tobey’s other site is SurfKooks.com.

Blog Marketing Tips

October 23, 2006

It’s about time you showed up here. I’ve been waiting!

So you want to know about [tag]blog marketing[/tag]? Got a sudden urge for more links, better search engine results, and more traffic?

Here are a couple sure-fire tips to keep you up past bedtime tonight…

Say Important Stuff!

Blogging is all about being interesting, informative, maybe controversial, helpful, and concise.

If you are trying to blog in order to get more prospects clicking on ads, buying recommended products, or buying your own product or service, you simply must spend time creating content that satisfies.

Most marketers-turned-bloggers have a terrible obsession with bland content and in-your-face marketing tactics that simply do not work in the [tag]blogosphere[/tag].

To garner rabid readers you have to care about them. Sincerely. Not Fakely(Don’t run to your dictionary, I just invented that word.)
Give them good, topical, helpful things to read and let them decide if they want to click an ad or buy something in your sidebar.

People trust you faster if you don’t have your hand on their wallets the very second they land on your blog!

Link Baiting

If you were in my niche and you put up a helpful post about internet marketing tactics, blog promotion tips, or something on effective list building, I would likely want to link to your post to save myself some writing and to look good to my readers for providing a great resource.

As you can see in my other posts, I do this a lot. My readers want me to filter the mass of information out there and present them with tips and resources that matter to them so they don’t have to be up at 4 a.m. like I am now.

People link to my stuff and I link to them. Far from the old days where we hid links from our visitors, we now openly link to each other and take part in a larger discussion, knowing we will get traffic back for our efforts.

Good Link Bait

Lists rock. Do the work of researching a good list of sites, recommendations, posts on a certain topic, recipes, resources, or anything else that your readers will appreciate and there’s a chance other bloggers will link to your resource too.

Just so’s they can look like heros to their readers without having to work.

Here is a sample of one of my most successful link bait pages.

People love that list. People just love lists. Don’t you?

Kill Them With Content

Don’t over do it, but write often. Many of the top bloggers write 3-5+ times per day, and that’s ok.

You got something to say on a few topics today? Say it!

Just never let too much time go by where you don’t get something new on your site.

With blogging, especially on a system like I am using, every post is a new entry into the engines for new keywords and phrases.

And every post is possible [tag]link bait[/tag].

Those should keep you busy for awhile. I post these things all the time, so make sure you are subscribed to the Friday Traffic Report Ezine for reminders and special email-only articles and how-to’s. Subscribe above - big yellow box on right - can’t miss it!
